China-Heilungkiang

Probe Dollar in Messing 1896 der Firma Louis Schuler, Göppingen, Stempel von der Prägeanstalt Otto Beh in Esslingen. Kann - vergl. 584 x (50 Cents, 1903), KM Pn 3, Davenport -, Lin Gwo Ming 585 ('..are found in brass only. Silver specimens have not yet been discovered'). In US Plastic-Holder PCGS SP60.

Kann writes: 'Heilungkiang Province had no mint of its own, and seemingly no silver money bearing its name was ever in circulation. It is the nortwesternmost in extant, it is only sparsely populatetd, for wide areas there are desert land. Economically the district was always backward. During the beginnig of the 20th century it was suggested to order silver coins with the province's name for circulation there. The author saw a 1/2-dollar piece in brass, milled, as proof coin; but so far not in silver. If a 50-cents silver piece ever existed, it would appear logical to assume that the 1-dollar coin also might have been extant. But since there is no evidence available, the matter should be treated as a supposition only. Heritage sale 3100 (Specimen Pattern 50 Cents ND (1896): "Such pieces, however, were destined to remain only Patterns, as the outbreak of the Boxer Rebellion, together with Russia's invasion of Heilungkiang, Kirin, and Fengtien, coupled with Heilungkiang's vast geography and sparse population, led to an abandonment of the program". The only one certified by PCGS and apparently the only specimen on the market.

Von größter Seltenheit. Leicht fleckig, fast vorzüglich
